Hoplomachos
A downloadable game
Hoplomachos
A game for 2 players that uses less than a single deck of playing cards (Aces and other Face Cards, 2s to 6s, inclusive = 45 cards).
A game represents a duel between two hoplites armed with various types of swords (xiphos, kopis/makhaira, 'encheiridion' - dagger) or a spear. The goal of a game is to inflict two successful hits upon your opponent.
Players need to pay attention to Fatigue levels, they can also use Trump suits to their advantage (more powerful attacks/ parries, also a possibility of one extra round before their opponent acts).
'Hoplomachos' is an English rendition of Ancient Greek word that can be translated as "drill-master" or "hand-to-hand combat trainer". During the classical period, according to extant written sources, such people did appear in Ancient Greece - most likely to provide group and individual training for citizen soldiers in exchange for pay.
The game elaborates on this word, providing players with a relatively short game about prevailing in one-on-one duel between heavy infantry of the era. Such situations may have arisen in real world, when battle lines broke or during pursuit/ escape from the battlefield.
It is my hope that this little game may bring some joy to the players!

Sounds interesting!
I also hope that it looks clear and easy to understand :) (the rules)
There are some things in this design that I am not quite sure about. I hope, however, to obtain more feedback from the players before I will continue tweaking the mechanics/ procedures.
Thank you for your interest!
